spyder man!!!!!!!

I just love this Porsche, the lines, the sound, the history. Yes that very, very rare 1950's Porsche called the 550 spyder's , the famous car that James Dean crashed and died in. There are very few originals still in existence, but thankfully the Porsche uses a similar engine to the Volkswagen, so there by it lives by the Volkswagen rule: any car that use a Volkswagen like motor can be made into a kit car. Vintage spyders makes some very nice Spyders at a good price (base turnkey is starting at $25,000) this would make a great alternative to a new Civic.

from snowflakes to metalflakes

Well, Mooneye's vintage styled California Metal Flake steering wheel's are one of the great products from Mooneye that would be a great Holiday present for any late 50's to 60's hot rod enthusiast.

gasser photos

My addiction to gassers had made me find some pics

odd gassers?

yep I know, I know, they are not really original gassers but still they are awesome. some odd cars like old Ramblers or other small brands with a big motor (nailhead, vintage lookin small block, Hemi) give it a raised straight axle ( but keep it at a legal hight) and drive it to car shows, strips anything and you will get looks. Make it as a daily driver with a smaller engine and you will just be awesome at any job. This is something I want to build one day, it says cool all over.

I'm back

After a long time of being out I'm back

the 4X4 Kustom

I saw a cool 4X4 Kustom I wanted people to see.
Enjoy
Just the look of it is cool. The 8 head lamp, fins and the rear fender skirts. the flathead engine is from a Merc.
this is what the description reads."This was built in the late 50's early 60's. It is on a 1942 4x4 ford jeep chassis. The cab is a 1952 IH snubnose. The rear clip is a 1953 mercury custom sedan. It has 59 ford front fenders for the bottom lights the top lights are 39 chevy headlights turned sideways and split.IT IS 4 WHEEL DRIVE ! ! ! 4x4. Make a cool rock crawler out of it!!!!

The motor is a EAC Mercury flathead V8. These motors make great hot rod motors! ! It trns over and tries to start but dontknow if i have the plug wires on in right order. It is on jeep 4 x 4 frame, the old gentalman that i bought this from used it to plow snow, he said it would go places other 4x4s couldnt go. This is a great project for someone .I found another car and cant keep 2 cars here,so I am selling this one. Rolls easily, will need a trailer or flatbed to haul. The body is solid with no rust holes. Needs brakes, glass."

If I had got that I would bring it to show car standards but make it drivable. But... I don't!!

Projects of the futures

If all of the projects people are working on are going to be kept in the family or sold when finished, what will happen to the future generation of car lovers if all cars are either finished or crushed into cubes of metal. Will we have to learn to work with newer cars? Will we need to just buy kit cars? one of reasons people have projects now are because hot roding fell out of favor for some years and when gas spiked in the early 70's, full sippers were needed more than high octane drinking machines. So many were melted during WW2 for weapons, some scraped later on, some hot roded in the 50's and 60's, and now we have the ones today. But what will happen when all cars are done?

Corvair's in mass

On July 19th, we went out to go see this car show and I was surprised with how many Corvair's were there. from looking around there were more Corvair's there than any other make. It seemed surprising I thought there would be tons of 289 Mustangs and vetts than any other car, but no, there were probably 30 corvair's out of the 100 cars there... it was very surprising. My Question is are Corvairs more popular then before

Vintage Nascar

I went to big lots today and got a 4 piece DVD set of vintage newsreals about 50's and 60's nascar.
I started to think why do they not have stock cars racing any more and why are all new cars needed to have the same size engine?. All of the new Nascar cars take the vehicle part of the equations. It... it is just destroying what is cool in nascar.

The Comet experience

There is almost a feeling of a new member in the family when you get a new car. And that is not an exception for the 1963 Mercury Comet. We just got this beauty on July 2. If you are wondering what size hole this made in my wallet, it was only $5,001.oo. Pretty good for a car that has had 6 grand put in it. Of corse their are some issues with it, chrome needs to be re-chromed, the speedometer does not work, their is a scratch on the hood were the thunderbolt style hood scoop was added, it needs a new linkage for the shifter, and the oil pan gasket. Well the cars 46 years old, I hope to look that good when I'm 46. I will keep a log on my progress on my hamb account. I will put some pics up soon.

Big 3 stimulus plan- Factory hot rods

Just the other day I was looking back at my April '08 HOT ROD Magazine and saw the Made in Detroit article. Reading it and studying the photos, I put to mind the idea of Factory hot rods. Think about it, you go to a plain ford dealer walk past the Focus and see a retro '32 deuce sitting on the show room floor. If the big 3 started to sell those in the low to mid 20 grand area, I would be running to my closest dealer. It could make a good stimulus plan for them. Well its a dream, and I can dream cant I.
